Lineage of Craft

Hanvi began with a simple belief — that clothing should carry meaning.

Guided by heritage techniques and shaped for the present, we create garments that honour time, patience, and the purity of fabric.

Behind each hand-embroidered shirt lies nearly a month of dedication and patience.

At Hanvi, luxury is not defined by excess, but by intention — the intention to preserve craft, to choose consciously, and to design pieces that live beyond seasons. Our silhouettes are modern, yet grounded in lineage. Handmade is not a detail; it is our foundation.

Drawing from the timeless Chikankari of Lucknow — a craft refined over generations — each piece reflects devotion, skill, and quiet continuity.

language of hand Blocks

In Chikankari, every motif begins in wood.

Designs are carefully carved by hand into wooden blocks — floral forms, winding vines, paisleys, delicate jaalis — each refined over time through repetition and practice.

These carved blocks are gently pressed onto fabric, transferring the design with balance, rhythm, and proportion before the embroidery begins.

More than tools, the blocks are keepers of tradition. Many patterns used today trace back decades, sometimes passed down within artisan families — preserving lineage through each impression.

The works of the hand

Through patient embroidery and meticulous finishing, artisans transform pure fabric into something enduring. The process cannot be accelerated — it requires discipline, experience, and devotion to craft.

Subtle variations in stitch and form are not flaws, but the quiet marks of the human hand. Shaped over many patient hours, each piece is gently unique.

Pure Fabrics, Chosen with Intention

Hand embroidery belongs on fabrics that breathe.

We work with pure, natural textiles — silk, cotton, linen — fabrics that hold thread gently and age with grace. Unlike synthetic materials, pure fabrics respond to the body, soften with wear, and carry the memory of time. They allow the embroidery to sit naturally, rather than float unnaturally on the surface.

Choosing pure fabric is a conscious act. It is about longevity, comfort, and respect for both craft and wearer.
